You are the Source
AI is the assistant
I hesitated in tackling this topic this month, as it seems to be a topic that everyone, everywhere, is talking about. I wasn’t sure I had anything of substance to add to the conversation.
“AI will eliminate 40% of the jobs in the world within 15 years. The question isn’t whether AI will take your job, but whether you’ll have a job that AI can’t do.”
Not so long ago, it was said that AI is the future; now it’s AI is going to take your job away. To be honest, I am glad to be at this stage in my career. I am nearing the end of my full-time working life, and I can adapt as needed for now. My husband pointed this out as we discussed this over Father’s Day dinner with our youngest.

She really doesn’t have to worry; she is the generation that is emerging into “new” opportunities as a result of AI. It’s mid-career professionals who are at the precipice of having to learn new tricks (just like Baby Boomers during the emergence of social platforms and apps).
First, let me be clear, this is ME writing this content and it will also be me, running it through a generative AI tool, giving it direction on what I want to be reviewed, refined or whatever I think it needs. BUT it is still my content. And that in and of itself is the primary point I want to make – I am the source, AI is my assistant and if you learn how to use AI smartly, it is going to provide value and potentially an advantage.
Do I use AI to write our client’s profiles?
When I am having a conversation with a potential new client, this is now the #1 most common question I am asked. It is often followed with, if you are, then I can probably do it myself. Ha, that one always makes me chuckle, because if you could (and I guess you can), then why haven’t you. Anyway, the answer to the question is No and Yes.
LinkedIn itself, now offers AI writing tools for Premium users which can help edit posts, messages, and profiles.
However, we have a structure that we have refined that is effective in generating interest and attracting the right people. Like this article, I will write profile content – your about, experience, etc. – and then provide direction for edits and support.
You tell me, is that me writing it or the AI?
No matter how you use Generative AI, you need to give the tools some guidance. It needs to be your inspiration, your direction, your thinking. For me, in the case of writing a profile, I am adapting and benefiting from the adoption of AI.
I recently read an article by CoSchedule on the State of Marketing 2025 and it said that 85% of marketers are using AI for content creation and 83% report higher productivity. And, a recent Microsoft and LinkedIn survey found that 75% of knowledge workers use AI, and 90% of those users report that it makes them more efficient.
So, you can debate the use of AI and its impact on our environment, but I am not going to support a debate that suggests AI is doing the work.
I’m taking my hands off the keyboard now… 😂
